Ship Identification

We can build state-of-the-art systems for speaker recognition and identification. While the technology has advanced in recent years, there is nothing that makes the approaches specific to speakers. It seems reasonable that similar approaches could work for many other domains.

We adapted speaker identification technology for the purposes of ship identification. Given a dataset consisting of recordings from a hydrophone, we built systems to automatically detect and identify the signatures from cargo ships in the vicinity.
